Alison FawcettPractice Nurse
Our practice nurse Alison gained her nursing qualifications in South Africa and has over 30 years of experience. She has valuable expertise in a variety of nursing disciplines including general and psychiatric nursing, midwifery and community health nursing.
Alison combines her depth of knowledge with a warm and approachable manner. She is a keen advocate of patient education and preventive medicine. In addition, Alison is passionate about accessibility to healthcare for patients, as well as guiding them through a process of making positive, individualised health choices. She has a particular interest in treating issues related to women's health and diabetes.
Alison is a strong believer of lifelong learning and despite her wealth of knowledge, she continues with her professional development to further enhance her clinical skills.
Amongst her numerous skills, she is a nurse immuniser, Pap smear provider, has completed the sexual and reproductive health course and attained a diploma in asthma. Moreover, she is a facilitator for the ComDiab community education in Diabetes programme.
Alison is a platinum member of the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA).
Clinical Areas of Interest: Preventive Healthcare and Education, Sexual Health risk assessment, lifestyle medicine and chronic disease management including diabetes, heart and lung disease and aboriginal health.
Personal Interests: In her spare time, Alison enjoys gardening and reading. She also enjoys travelling. In fact, she has had the opportunity to travel and has lived in several countries, having worked in five of them! As a result, she has worked amongst a variety of different cultures.
